Pilates
Pilates is a fitness system developed in the early 20th century by German fitness enthusiast Joseph Pilates. It uses deep breathing techniques and precisely controlled movements to strengthen the muscles that support the spine.
This low impact style requires students to focus on details such as spinal alignment and breath control. The movements are generally small, and performing each exercise correctly requires intense focus. While many Pilates studios have specialized equipment, the original essence of the method is floor exercise. Floor based Pilates is extremely effective, and this is what we offer.
Pilates is an important part of a well rounded fitness regimen. The abdominal muscle strength it builds improves low back problems, enhances balance and reduces the chance of injury. And it creates measureable performance improvements in just about any sport.
