Strength Training
Strength training is the use of resistance to build the strength, endurance and size of skeletal muscles. There are significant health benefits to strength training, including: improved joint function, increased bone density, increased metabolism, improved heart function, improved cholesterol and reduced potential for injury.
The instructor will guide the class through a carefully planned strength training session that addresses all the major muscle groups. Exercises will include the use of hand weights, resistance bands, your own body weight and other stability equipment. To prevent injury, careful attention is paid to proper technique.
Strength training is an important part of any lifestyle and is a great addition to your weekly fitness routine. It helps keep us fit enough for an active lifestyle when we are young, and helps maintain overall health and well being as we age.
